After an immersive week in San Francisco engaging with tech leaders and academic faculty, I’ve been reflecting on a singular question: How do we actually “power up” individually and our organization in the age of AI?
It isn’t about adding a standalone tool to the enterprise. It’s about a fundamental shift in our Leadership Mindset.
A few themes stuck with me from the week:
From Workflow to “Flow”:
AI cannot be a destination we aim for; it must be the current we swim in. True deployment means customizing AI into our team structures to simplify processes, not add to them. It is a co-pilot that should increase the value of our teams’ work, not just the volume.
Agility over SOPs:
The pace of innovation is outpacing traditional standard procedures. We must
adopt a “learning mindset” where we are agile enough to build models that learn and apply technology faster than our processes can document them.
Democratized Knowledge and Expertise:
Agents are blurring the lines between roles. We must become comfortable engaging beyond our traditional silos. This inter-disciplinary collaboration is what will ultimately accelerate how we deliver transformative medicines to patients.
The Power of the Question:
While many speak of “human-in-the-loop,” I see it as human-as-the-orchestrator. Our most essential skill is no longer just having the answer—it is having the curiosity and critical thinking to ask the right question.

The Evolution of the Quotient – We’ve long moved from IQ (Intelligence) to
EQ (Emotional Intelligence).
But to lead in this new era, I believe we need to embrace three new dimensions:
CQ (Collaborative Quotient): Our ability to work across radical new partnerships.
AiQ (Artificial Intelligence integration Quotient): How naturally and with speed we weave AI into the fabric of our work and decision-making.
Success will no longer be determined by individual IQ. It will be determined by how we combine IQ + EQ + CQ + AiQ to harness technology for the ultimate good: bringing life-changing innovation to those who need it most.
