Sumanta Pal: I Didn’t Realize I was Related to a Foundational Figure in Cancer Research
Sumanta Pal, Professor and Vice Chair of Academic Affairs at City of Hope, shared a post on X:
“On a recent work trip to the UK, met with my aunt, Kalyani Pal (my dad’s little sis).
She worked at Guy’s and St Thomas’ and The Institute of Cancer Research. I knew she spent a considerable amount of time in the lab, but had no idea she did early foundational work linking polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and metabolites to chromosomal aberrations and downstream carcinogenesis.
Have always been inspired by amazing female figures in cancer research but did not realize I was related to one!.”
