Sultan Stambekov: Grateful for Vital Support for Children With Cancer in Kyrgyzstan

Sultan Stambekov, Kyrgyzstan’s Chief Paediatric Oncologist, shared on Facebook:

“Today, our department received 960 syringe tubes of filgrastim. This vital assistance was made possible thanks to the Ergene Foundation with the support of Americares.

Filgrastim is a modern medication that stimulates the production of neutrophils—blood cells that protect the body from infections. It is used in patients following chemotherapy, helping to restore immunity faster and significantly reducing the risk of severe infectious complications. As a result, children can continue their treatment on schedule, require hospitalization less frequently, and receive safer, more effective therapy. For many of our patients, this drug is an essential part of their treatment.

We have been collaborating with these wonderful people for a long time. The Ergene Foundation and Americares regularly assist us with supplies of medications-especially rare and vital ones that are often very difficult to procure through standard channels.

This delivery is not only a huge help to our young patients, but also a substantial support to the state budget and to the families undergoing treatment. Thanks to this, we will be able to redirect saved funds toward purchasing other life-saving medicines and provide help to even more children.

We sincerely thank the Ergene Foundation and Americares for their constant support, trust, and contribution to saving children’s lives. Together, we give children a chance at recovery.”
