Stacey Tinianov: My First Trip to American Society of Clinical Oncology

Stacey Tinianov, Executive Director at Advocates for Collaborative Education, and VP Patient Advocacy and Engagement at Rabble Health, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Fresh off my first trip to American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) headquarters and invigorated by the inclusive process and true promise of generating timely and accessible Clinical Practice Guidelines with the Evidence-Based Medicine Committee.

The process is fairly simple and incredibly impactful:
  •  Expert panels, including advocate voices, identify areas in need of practice guidelines or guideline updates.
  • ASCO staff provides vital support for literature searches, standardization, and strategic focus.
  • Guidelines are thoughtfully developed from the latest published research, keeping options for patient preference in mind, reference levels of evidence, reviewed by panel members, and voted on for approval before being published.

As a new member of this committee, I was impressed by the leadership, the collaboration, and the sense of urgency in improving the process to ensure guidelines are timely, accurate, comprehensive, and accessible

ASCO Clinical Practice Guidelines are available here.

Kudos to the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Staff and fellow expert panel members for 36 hours well spent!”
