Siddhartha Yadav: Highlighting Persistent Gaps in BRCA1/2 Testing for Metastatic Breast Cancer

Siddhartha Yadav, Associate Professor of Oncology and Consultant Medical Oncologist at the Mayo Clinic, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“In this interview, I highlight persistent gaps in BRCA1/2 testing for metastatic breast cancer, where roughly 35-40% of eligible metastatic breast cancer patients still aren’t being tested despite clear guideline recommendations.

These missed opportunities limit patient access to targeted therapies like PARP inhibitors and other precision treatments. Cost and insurance barriers are no longer the main issue; system-level changes and care pathways are key to improving testing rates and ensuring timely, multi-biomarker testing.
