“Medicine is not short on talented women. It is short on the systems that keep them.
Women now make up the majority of medical students, yet they remain underrepresented in senior leadership, are paid less for the same work, and leave clinical practice at higher rates than their male colleagues. Each departure carries a cost: to patients, to care teams, and to the institutions that invested years in training them.
In 2019, I founded Women in Medicine to address this at the level of infrastructure, not inspiration alone. This Thursday, we open the 8th Annual Women in Medicine Summit in Chicago, and we are launching the next phase of that work.
I’m asking you to invest in it. Please make a gift to Women in Medicine before the end of Women in Medicine Month on September 30.
