Shikha Jain: Communication Becomes Progress in Intentional, Transparent Partnerships

Shikha Jain, Founder, Chair of the Board (Former CEO)at Women in Medicine, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Always love coming back to Philly — a place that was home for a year back in my pre-med school, pre-kids chapter of life. Grateful I could pack so much into this quick trip!

I had the chance to catch up with my brilliant friend Dr. Hansa Bhargava MD to talk about the future of healthcare and the innovations that will shape it. We also laughed about the realities of life right now — both of us trying to get our kids (and ourselves!) scheduled for COVID and flu shots ideally before September 15, so we’re protected before viral season really kicks in. (Shout out to my awesome husband who was able to get all 3 kids both shots last night!)

I joined my amazing friend Dr. Don S. Dizon on a Fierce Pharma panel where we had a thoughtful discussion on KOLs, DOLs, and the humanity in medicine. We dug into how physicians, healthcare workers, and pharma/industry can move beyond transactional interactions and instead build trust through authentic collaboration. Together, we explored how intentional storytelling and transparent partnerships can:

  • Empower patients to advocate for themselves and their communities,
  • Educate the public in a way that cuts through misinformation, and
  • Drive real systems-level change that improves care.

After the panel, I stopped by the Healio booth, where I had the chance to talk about the role of innovation and communication in shaping the future of healthcare. It was a great space to reflect on how platforms like Healio can help bridge gaps between clinicians, researchers, and industry — amplifying evidence-based insights, sharing diverse perspectives, and ultimately improving how we reach and impact patients.

It’s in these intentional, transparent partnerships that communication becomes progress.”
