“We put a ton of thought into onboarding new interns, residents, and fellows. Then someone becomes an attending on Monday and the safety net just… vanishes.
For new inpatient attendings, I made a one-page daily checklist. It provides simple structure for rounds, midday, and sign-out, with room to scribble a few notes.
My team knows I love a good checklist. Checklists help me get organized and not be overwhelmed by a ton of data and noise.
