“Last week, I was in Munich for the ESMO Preceptorship on Ovarian Cancer.
A topic that stood out to me was cancer during pregnancy. These situations are understandably frightening for both patients and physicians, but the key message was very important: pregnancy itself does not necessarily worsen the prognosis, and treatment should remain as close as possible to the standard of care, with proper counselling and support from an experienced multidisciplinary team.
Avoiding unnecessary termination of pregnancy or premature delivery simply because of fear or limited experience is something we should speak about more.
But honestly, one of the best parts of meetings like this is always the people. Catching up with friends, meeting colleagues from different countries and seeing familiar faculty members again makes the whole experience much more meaningful.
It was especially nice to meet Giuseppe Caruso again and, this time, to see him lecturing in gynae-oncology. His session was definitely one of the highlights of the preceptorship for me.
