Sapna Nangia, Director of Head and Neck and Breast Cancer, Radiation oncologist for Head and neck Skull base/Breast/Gynae CMT at Apollo Proton Cancer Centre, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“AROICON 2025, held at the end of November at the fabulous Biswa Bangla Convention Centre in Kolkata, was a vibrant educational feast. The organisers, Dr. Suman Mallik, Dr. Jyotirup Goswami, Dr. Abhishek Basu and team, put together a superb meeting.

It was indeed a delight that my unit at the Apollo Proton Cancer Centre had many fruitful engagements at the meeting.

Dr. Nisarga Manjunath presented our work on Proton Therapy for salivary pathologies.

Dr. Nagarjuna Burela debated the role of brachytherapy in the reirradiation of Head and Neck Cancers, especially in comparison with Proton therapy, and delivered a talk on the treatment of Ocular malignancies. In addition, he presented a poster on the role of Proton Therapy in Oral cancers.

I was happy to deliver a talk on our experience with Proton Therapy in Breast cancer, and another lecture on our experience of using the technology to treat challenging head neck cancers, i.e. Skull base lesions and inoperable oral cancers.

IBA supported a panel discussion on Evidence, Access and the Future of Proton Therapy , chaired by Dr. Tejinder Kataria , Dr. Litan Naha Biswas and Dr. Nagraj Huilgol, and conducted by Dr. Chilukuri Srinivas; I was happy to participate as a panellist.

And finally, we rounded off our academic contribution with Dr. Jince Mathew presenting a poster comparing proton therapy plans generated with coronal coplanar beams to those with the usual axial coplanar beams, with a view to improving access to proton therapy in low-cost settings.”
