Salman Fazal, Hematology Lead at UPMC Harrisburg, shared on LinkedIn:
“Some evenings remind you why you love this field. Last night in Pittsburgh was one of them.
Thank you to everyone who filled the room at Cancer Updates From Major Oncology Meetings – Pittsburgh. It was an honor to co-chair this program with Dr. Adam Brufsky and to share the latest in hematologic malignancies.
The science was excellent, but I’ll remember the energy in the room most. Oncologists, APPs, nurses, pharmacists, and fellows came together after a full day at work. The questions were thoughtful, the hallway conversations ran long, and colleagues who hadn’t seen each other met up.
Coming back to Pittsburgh always feels like coming home. So many of the people in that room worked with me, referred patients to me, or cared for patients alongside me over the years. Seeing familiar faces alongside new ones reminded me that the oncology community here is one of the strongest anywhere.
Meetings like this matter. A trial result becomes better care only when colleagues talk it through together, compare notes, and take it back to their patients.
Thank you to Total Health, our faculty, Elshad Hasanov, Dulabh Kaur Monga, Christopher Lemmon and everyone who joined us!”
