Safeera Hussainy: A Full Circle Moment at MASCC 2026

Safeera Hussainy, Senior Pharmacy Research Manager at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“It was a full circle moment for me attending and presenting at The Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer (MASCC) in Melbourne the last few days.

You see, I attended MASCC in Toronto in 2006 during the last year of my PhD candidature, to present a poster. That trip holds beautiful memories of travelling with my supervisor Jennifer Marriott and my late mother.

Exactly 20 years later at this year’s MASCC, I found a sister in Naveena Nekkalapudi who I am blessed to know and work with since 2023. I met so many other people who also care about improving sexual health outcomes for people affected by cancer.

I have learnt global best practices in this field from leading experts, Anne Katz, Don S. Dizon and Linda D. Bosserman, MD, PhD. What a privilege and thank you for sharing your wisdom and knowledge!

It was also heartening to see my Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre Pharmacy colleagues – Marliese Alexander Bishma Jayathilaka Vivian Shen Nikhil S. share their innovative work across pharmacogenomics, thromboprophylaxis, immune checkpoint inhibitors and infectious disease.

My cup is full and I will be taking the next few days to reflect on what I have learnt.”
