“KCL’s Centre for Conflict and Health Security has worked closely with USAID’s biosecurity programme as part of its Public Health Resilience and Response Programme.
This work, led by Dr Gemma Bowsher, involved delivering in-country support and training on ambiguous and deliberate biological events, disinformation, and risk communication. As part of this, the CCHS team led the first mapping exercise of Ukraine’s inter-agency biological incident architecture.
We have also provided regular support through the G7 Counter WMD Disinformation Initiative on issues relating to CBRN disinformation, coordinating with various agencies within Ukraine, and supporting delegations at the BWC, CWC, NPT and UN First Committee to counter disinformation targeting Ukraine and allies.
As part of the wider UK biosecurity programming in close coordination with the Ukrainian Ministry of Health, CCHS is delivering training to medical schools, professional groups, and selected agencies on emerging biosecurity issues.
CCHS work has expanded to include broader NCD health systems strengthening and resilience work, this week sponsoring sessions at the GMKA-Association for American Cancer Research (AACR) Poland-Ukraine cancer meeting in Warsaw.”
