“We invest substantially in specialist nurse-led cancer services, but too often ask nurses to demonstrate their impact without providing clear guidance on what outcomes matter, which metrics to use or how evaluation should be undertaken.
In partnership with McGrath Foundation which constantly strives to deliver better care and outcomes for people affected by cancer, our new open-access paper in the Journal of Advanced Nursing moves beyond randomised trials to examine how specialist cancer nursing is evaluated in real-world settings.
It provides a practical foundation for measuring value, improving quality and strengthening the case for sustainable investment in nurse-led care.
Nurses should not be left to prove the value of complex services without the frameworks and tools to do so.”
