Ravindran Kanesvaran: Are We Measuring Progress in Cancer Care by the Number of Breakthroughs We Achieve?

Ravindran Kanesvaran, Chairman, Division of Medical Oncology at National Cancer Centre Singapore, shared on LinkedIn:

“Are we measuring progress in cancer care by the number of breakthroughs we achieve – or by the number of patients who actually benefit from them?

This question stayed with me following an inspiring day at Cancer Care at the Crossroads 2026 in Computer History Museum ,San Francisco.

Privileged to participate in this exceptional gathering of leaders from academia, industry, healthcare systems, policy and advocacy.

Particularly proud to see National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS) represented by our CEO, Soon Thye LIM as an invited panellist.

My biggest reflection as an oncologist: We have never had more exciting scientific advances, yet the gap between what medicine can offer and what healthcare systems can sustainably deliver remains deeply concerning.

The next frontier in oncology is not just innovation – it is making innovation accessible, affordable and meaningful for every patient.

Congratulations to the passionate Mike Meyer and Meyer Consulting team for bringing together such diverse perspectives and challenging us to think beyond our traditional silos.”
