Ravindran Kanesvaran: Singapore Cancer Society Launches Cancer Care Coalition at Screen Fest 2026

Ravindran Kanesvaran, Chairman of the Division of Medical Oncology at the National Cancer Centre Singapore, and Distinguished Professor of Geriatric Oncology at Duke-NUS Medical School, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“At Screen Fest 2026 today, we (Singapore Cancer Society)  came together to mark World Cancer Day (4 February) with the launch of the Cancer Care Coalition – a significant step forward in strengthening cancer awareness, prevention, early detection, and support across Singapore’s diverse communities.

We were deeply honoured by the presence of President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, our Patron. His leadership and steadfast support reaffirm a fundamental truth: tackling cancer requires a whole-of-society effort—sustained, coordinated, and rooted in trust.

I was grateful to be part of a thoughtful and energising panel discussion, featuring Professor Kenneth Mak, Director-General of Health, alongside colleagues from NCIS (A/Prof Cheng Ean Chee) and Singapore Cancer Society(Kwang Cheak Tan). The conversation highlighted the importance of seamlessly linking community outreach with clinical follow-through – so that cancer information is clearer and taking action is easier for those who need it most. Also it drew attention to the key role of Healthier SG in making cancer screening accessible .

Most importantly, the impact was tangible: screenings completed, conversations sparked, and barriers lowered in real time. This is how we move forward – working together, across sectors, and bringing cancer care into the heart of our communities.”
