Rasha Aboelhassan, Senior Oncology Consultant at Nasser Institute Hospital, shared on LinkedIn:
“It has been four years since I was invited to join the HCC Committee, and during this journey, we have discussed many challenging and complex cases as an MDT.
Yesterday, we brought together some of the most challenging scenarios: patients with portal vein thrombosis and significant comorbidities, patients with PS 2, and those with limited bone marrow reserve.
The discussion was evidence-based, highly professional, and enriched by the experience and perspectives of every expert.
Our conclusion was clear: we can save more patients, but this requires multidisciplinary collaboration.
The management of HCC is no longer the responsibility of one physician.
HCC treatment is an MDT decision – where different perspectives come together to give each patient the best possible chance.”
