Celebrating Postdoc Appreciation Week with Nefeli Skoufou Papoutsaki – The Institute of Cancer Research

The Institute of Cancer Research shared a post on LinkedIn:

“It’s Postdoc Appreciation Week.

We’re celebrating the incredible talent, dedication, and commitment to cancer research that our postdoc community brings to the ICR.

Throughout the week, we’ll be shining a spotlight on the remarkable contributions and impact of their work.

Kicking off the week is Nefeli Skoufou Papoutsaki, who specialises in stem cell biology.

‘Cancer is unfortunately part of every family and has profound emotional consequences for almost everyone around us. By working in cancer research, I feel like I’m contributing to something greater.’

Originally from Greece, Nefeli is passionate about understanding cancer initiation and advancing early detection, which is crucial for treating cancer with currently available therapies before it becomes too aggressive.

Since joining the ICR Postdoc Association Committee, she has connected with new people and built lasting friendships:

‘Everyone at the social events is really friendly, and together with the Learning and Development team, there are lots of opportunities to learn new skills and attend workshops for career development.’

Outside the lab, Nefeli enjoys capoeira, salsa dancing, and spending time with friends.”
