Cancer Vaccines Represent a Promising New Frontier in the Fight Against Cancer – PICI

Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy shared on LinkedIn:

“As Karen Knudsen, CEO of the Parker Institute, tells Gina Kolata of The New York Times, cancer vaccines represent a promising new frontier in the fight against cancer.

A new national initiative led by the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health and National Cancer Institute (NCI) aims to accelerate the development of personalized cancer vaccines, building on encouraging early research from scientists including Parker Institute researcher Dr. Catherine Wu of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Vinod Balachandran of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

Through its focus on innovative cancer immunotherapy research and building collaboration across the scientific community, Parker is helping advance the science needed to turn promising discoveries into new treatment options.

With a coordinated national effort on the horizon, researchers have an opportunity to accelerate progress against some of the hardest-to-treat cancers.
