Phoebe Ongadi: Strengthening CHPs, CSOs, and Survivors to Reshape Early Detection in Kenya

Phoebe Ongadi, Executive Director at Kenyan Network of Cancer Organizations, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“At the 7th National Palliative Care Conference in Mombasa, I had the privilege of sharing how strengthening Community Health Promoters (CHPs), grassroots CSOs, and cancer survivors is expected to reshape early detection efforts in Kenya. This project powered by AstraZeneca and Kenyan Network of Cancer Organizations will pilot in Kiambu and Kajiado Counties; and is expected to equip CHPs to identify early warning signs, empower grassroots organizations to tackle stigma, and amplify survivor voices to inspire screening uptake.

This is aimed at building a community-powered ecosystem that reduces late-stage presentation and eases the palliative care burden. Congratulations Kenya Hospices and Palliative Care Association (KEHPCA) for a well organized and educative conference.”
