“A Full-Circle Moment
Oakland is where I grew up and learned the power of community. Expanding access to high-quality, whole-person cancer care in the East Bay is more than a professional commitment – it’s personal.
During my last chapter at Stanford Health Care, Dr. Patrick Swift and I had the privilege of leading the team that developed the blueprint for the Stanford Medicine Sutter Health Cancer Collaborative.
Almost five years later, touring the new Stanford Medicine Sutter Health Cancer Center at Summit Medical Center was surreal and deeply rewarding – a true full-circle moment.
Creating a cancer center across two health systems required us to envision new clinical capabilities, bring together diverse expertise, build trust and collaboration, and embrace uncertainty. Many moments weren’t comfortable, but they were when the greatest transformation happened.
Congratulations to Maria M. Gonzalez, Kavitha Ramchandran for your extraordinary leadership in bringing this vision to life. And thank you to the physicians, clinical teams, leaders, staff, and partners who made it possible.
Cancer Support Community San Francisco Bay Area stands ready to partner with you. Together, we can create lasting value for the East Bay community that we are so privileged to serve.”
