Paige Humble: Addressing Survivorship Barriers and Advocacy at the ACS NLCRT Annual Meeting

Paige Humble, Chief Executive Officer at Lung Cancer Initiative, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Today I am unpacking all of the wonderful takeaways and new connections from this year’s American Cancer Society National Lung Cancer Roundtable (ACS NLCRT) Annual Meeting in Atlanta. Themes that standout to me include how we can address barriers to survivorship care and how patient advocacy groups play an important role in connecting survivors and care partners to these types of resources. I’m also still processing a truly powerful panel discussion around ‘Closing the Gap Between What We Say and What Patients Hear’ and important questions about stigmatizing language and opportunities to change the narrative around lung cancer and early detection.

Bradley Icard, DO, a member of Lung Cancer Initiative’s Board of Directors also provided an overview from North Carolina about the wonderful growth in FirstHealth of the Carolinas’ new mobile lab and the impact that this new service is already making in their community during a state-based initiatives panel discussion.

It was uplifting to see so many fellow advocates and incredible thought leaders, and I look forward to continued partnership over the next year in making a bigger impact for all of those impacted by lung cancer together.”
