“Integrative approaches in oncology care.
A new randomized controlled trial found that acupuncture + enhanced self-care significantly reduced hot flash frequency and severity in women with breast cancer compared to enhanced self-care alone.
Key findings:
- 190 participants, 12-week trial
- Lower hot flash scores at 12 weeks, 3 months, and 6 months (P < .001)
- Improved quality of life across vasomotor, physical, and psychosocial domains
- No major safety concerns
These results suggest that acupuncture may serve as an effective, evidence-based complementary therapy for managing menopausal symptoms and improving well-being in breast cancer survivors.”
