Obimobi Onyeukwu-Onyenso: Insights from Dana-Farber’s Global Breast Cancer Course

Obimobi Onyeukwu-Onyenso, Medical Scientist at Pharmora, shared on LinkedIn:

“On the 18th of July, I got the unique opportunity to tune in live for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s course ‘Breast Cancer: New Horizons, Current Controversies’

Each speaker brought a lot to think about – in only 20 minutes at a time! My aim is to ‘hopefully’ summarise some interesting points I found in a 20 seconds read – let’s see how I do.

In a course inviting attendees from all over the world; Brazil, Chile, Portugal, Phillipines, UK, USA, Spain, Korea, Argentina and more. Clinical experts provided insight into best practices in areas like radiation oncology, breast surgery and even molecular diagnostics (got to learn a lot about ctDNA from Ilana’s talk in this one)

We also got to learn about how recent clinical trial results are changing what we know about the best treatments for ER+, HER 2+ and triple negative breast cancer!

Giuseppe Curigliano delivered a unique talk on sequencing novel therapies in the modern era and it’s implications for clinical trial design.

Ana brought ADC’s into the discussion and how they are transforming the treatment of triple negative metastatic breast cancer – A day before might I add, her favourite team Spain won the World Cup!

It was a full day of world-class teaching, learning and more in-depth topics than my 20 seconds can allow! Thank you to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and all of the organisers that helped everything run so smoothly!

Looking forward to unpacking more of the talks in my personal time!”
