“A Message From IHCRI-Rwanda: London Global Cancer Week 2026
We are deeply honored and happy to host our session as part of London Global Cancer Week 2026.
For us at IHCRI-Rwanda, this opportunity represents more than hosting a global event. It is a reminder of what becomes possible when people, institutions, researchers, clinicians, advocates, and communities come together with a shared purpose.
Cancer does not recognize borders, institutions, professions, or countries. And when collaboration comes in, many of the barriers that separate us begin to fade. Knowledge can cross borders. Expertise can be shared. Research can become collaboration, and collaboration can become action.
We believe that the fight against cancer cannot be carried by one person, one institution, or one country alone. We must stand united against the growing cancer burden.
Behind every statistic is a person. When we say thousands of cancer cases, we are not talking only about numbers. When we say thousands of cancer deaths, we are not talking only about figures.
Each number represents a human being – someone with a family, dreams, hopes, and a right to live with dignity. This is why our work matters.
Our goal should not only be to reduce numbers on a chart, but to protect lives, preserve dignity, reduce suffering, improve access to care, strengthen research, and give people more opportunities to live the lives they deserve.
As we prepare to bring together voices from Rwanda and beyond on 4 November 2026, we invite researchers, healthcare professionals, institutions, students, advocates, and everyone committed to better cancer outcomes to join us.

- Unity strengthens our response.
- And behind every number is a person whose life matters.
Let us come together for a future where cancer outcomes are not defined only by statistics, but by the lives we are able to save and the dignity we are able to protect.
