Nita Radhakrishnan, Associate Professor at the Department of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology at the Post Graduate Institute of Child Health, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Every cure has a story. Behind every remission is not just chemotherapy and protocols, but relentless courage.
The medical teams that battled cancer, septic shock, necrotising fasciitis, and GI bleeds relentlessly were the residents, nurses, and collaborating departments.
Blood donors who stepped in silently.
Social workers who ensured access.
Government support that makes treatment possible.
Volunteers who made him laugh in between all of this.
A mother and sister who lived practically in the hospital, balancing medical care and a daily-wage job to make sure he finishes his treatment – an unspoken ode to womanhood, fitting as we enter the final days of Durga Puja.
Together, this ecosystem held the child till there was light at the end of the tunnel. And this one smile makes it all worth it.
Every cure has a story.
As we close Childhood Cancer Awareness Month on 30 September 2025, let’s remember that every survivor is a story of collective courage, tireless work, and the power of humanity.”
