Niranjala Siriwardena: Rising Again, This Time on My Own Terms

Niranjala Siriwardena, Cancer Survivor and Former Manager at PwC Australia, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Today I’m sharing the next chapter of my story.

Last year, I shared a very personal story about cancer, career resilience, rejection, recovery, and finding the courage to rise again. At the time, I thought I was closing a painful chapter. But looking back now, I realise I was actually standing at the beginning of a new one.

A chapter that asked me to pause.
To recover.
To rebuild.

And eventually, to create something of my own.

This article is about what came after survival. It is about founding GNS Strategic Advisory. It is about turning lived experience into purpose. It is about building a practice across CFO Advisory, Professional Practice Advisory, and Workplace Cancer Survivorship. It is about advocacy, healing, and learning that resilience is not one dramatic comeback.

Sometimes, resilience is simply choosing to keep building while the ground still feels uncertain.

Over the past year, I have learned that the work you do after hardship is different. It becomes more honest. More focused. More human. And sometimes, the chapter you thought would break you becomes the foundation for the work you were always meant to do.

To anyone in their own hard chapter:

You are not behind.
You are not broken.
You are becoming.

This is The Next Chapter: Rising Again, This Time on My Own Terms.

I hope it reaches someone who needs to be reminded that the story is not over yet.”
