Nikolaos Vassos, Professor of Surgery at the Ruprecht-Karls-University of Heidelberg, Head of Department of Surgical Oncology, at Athens Medical Center, ESSO Y Steering Committee Member, ESSO Education and Training Committee Member, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Back home after the European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO) ESSO44 Congress in Gothenburg! Feeling inspired and grateful after three days of scientific sessions, stimulating discussions, and continuous progress in surgical oncology.
Honored to serve as Invited Speaker presenting the Highlights of the Sarcoma Track and Chairman of the Peritoneal Surface Malignancy PSM Section – two sessions reflecting the collaborative spirit of our community.
As a Member of the Education and Training Committee, I am pleased to contribute to new initiatives empowering young surgeons. Also delighted, as Lead of Fellowship Liaison for Y-ESSO, to help foster international fellowship opportunities and support the next generation in their training and careers.
Every ESSO meeting reminds us that surgical oncology is about more than science – it is about teamwork, education, and improving patient outcomes. A fantastic chance to reconnect, share experiences, and strengthen collaborations.
Congrats to Geerard Beets, ESSO President and ESSO44 Scientific Chair, to Roger Bagge Olofsson, ESSO44 Local Congress Chair, and to all ESSO Board Members. Special thanks to the ESSO Office for their outstanding work behind the scenes.
Proud to be part of such a dynamic community – already looking forward to what’s next!”
