Nikki McCaffrey: It Was a Pleasure to Connect With Colleagues and Partners at MASCC26

Nikki McCaffrey, Associate Professor of Economics of Cancer at Deakin University, Honorary Senior Research Associate at Cancer Council Victoria, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“So good to be at MASCC26 in Melbourne this week, bringing together an incredible global community focused on improving supportive cancer care.

It was a pleasure to connect with colleagues and partners who are equally committed to ensuring that care is not only clinically effective, but also accessible, equitable, and patient‑centred.

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to share our work with Cancer Council Victoria on the social and economic value of 13 11 20 (now Cancer Connect), highlighting how much people affected by cancer value the benefits these services provide. This formed part of a fascinating session on stepped care, chaired by Anne Ugalde and Maria Ftanou, with insightful contributions from Michelle Peate, Ben Smith, Ramya Walsan and Rebekah Laidsaar-Powell.

Conversations at MASCC continue to reinforce the importance of integrating health economics and policy perspectives into supportive care so that the services people impacted by cancer value most are recognised, funded, and sustained.

Looking forward to building on these discussions through ongoing collaborations across research and policy.”
