“A new study out now in JCO Global Oncology, ‘Using Qualitative Research Methods to Codesign a Virtual Community of Practice for Global Oncology Early-Career Investigators,‘ explores barriers and facilitators to research careers among early-career investigators (ECIs) in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) and uses their perspectives to inform the design of a virtual Community of Practice (CoP).
Through in-depth interviews, the study identified three key areas shaping ECI experiences: institutional capacity, mentorship, and alignment of research with local priorities. Participants also highlighted the importance of structured networking, skills development, peer collaboration, and resource sharing.
These findings informed a user-centered CoP designed to support training, collaboration, and knowledge exchange among global oncology ECIs.”
