“Today, the Specialised Programme for Advancing Rare Cancer Care (SPARCC) was launched at the 2026 Singapore Sarcoma, Skin and Rare Cancers Symposium at NCCS!
Rare cancers may sound uncommon, but they collectively make up 1 in 4 cancer diagnoses.
Patients often face delayed diagnoses, limited treatment options, and fewer clinical trials dedicated to their condition.
SPARCC addresses this through a centralised, multidisciplinary care model that supports patients from suspected diagnosis, through treatment, and into survivorship, connecting them to specialists experienced in treating rare cancers, cancer genetics testing, counselling, and clinical trials all in one place.
Beyond individual care, SPARCC will also build cancer registries, drive regional and international research collaboration, and run education initiatives to advocate for greater awareness and effort to improve treatment for rare cancers.
