Navneet Singh: Optimizing Panel Discussions at Academic Conferences

Navneet Singh, Thoracic Medical Oncologist at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, posted on LinkedIn:

“Browsing through the scientific agenda of an upcoming meeting being organized by a reputed clinician somewhere in the country, could not help noticing that each session had 5-7 chairpersons and each panel discussion had 8-10 panelists.

Organizers of such academic meetings and conferences [probably need to ensure that some sort of special infrastructure and arrangements exists on the dias/stage to] accomodate everyone (pun intended). And kudos to the moderators of such sessions who attempt and manage to ensure that each panelist is granted the opportunity to express himself/herself in the limited 25-30 minutes allocated for such panel discussions.

Our conferences/academic meetings are the sum of our choices!
