“From Training to Implementation: Our First Hands-On SRS/SBRT Course Successfully Completed!
On September 22-23, the first two-day hands-on course, ‘SRS/SBRT for Selected Sites: From Patient Selection to Treatment Plan Creation’ was successfully held at the Shalimov National Scientific Center of Surgery and Transplantation in Kyiv, organized in collaboration with Help Ukraine Group (HUG) with the support of Swecare and Elekta
Over the course of two days, participants worked through the entire practical pathway from patient selection, simulation, positioning, and contouring to dose selection, treatment plan creation, optimization, and evaluation. Special emphasis was placed on clinical cases and hands-on development of SRS/SBRT treatment plans using the Elekta Monaco TPS.
A huge thank you to our instructors: Olena Safronova, Zoia Shepil, and Serhii Brovchuk for two intensive days of hands-on training, sharing their expertise, and supporting their colleagues.
You are doing much more than simply teaching courses. Through this practical training, you are truly changing the landscape of radiation oncology in Ukraine – helping clinical teams move from theoretical knowledge to the confident and safe implementation of modern technologies in clinical practice.

Our goal is to help Ukrainian radiation oncology advance to the next level and expand the safe implementation of SRS/SBRT in clinical practice. Lectures alone are not enough to achieve this. Hands-on training, work with real clinical cases, and close collaboration between radiation oncologists and medical physicists are essential.
The next hands-on course will take place November 3-4, 2026, with two additional courses planned for February and March 2027.
