Muna Al-Khaifi։ Onco-Menopause Conference Highlights the Importance of Menopause Care in Cancer Survivorship

Muna Al-Khaifi, Onco-Menopause specialist at Mount Sinai Hospital (Toronto), Sinai Health, shared on LinkedIn:

“What a fantastic day of learning, discussion, and connection at our inaugural international online Onco-Menopause conference!

When evidence and science meet menopause care and cancer survivorship, the conversations are powerful and today was a wonderful example.

Our outstanding speakers brought expertise, thoughtful perspectives, and a shared commitment to improving menopause care for cancer survivors.

We explored emerging evidence, hormonal and nonhormonal treatment options, and the complexities of menopausal hormone therapy after cancer.

A clear message ran throughout the day: these conversations cannot always be reduced to a simple ‘yes‘ or ‘no‘.

They require careful interpretation of the evidence, individualized assessment, and shared decision-making that respects each person’s symptoms, priorities, and cancer history.

We discussed the essential role of multidisciplinary teams and the importance of providing survivors with clear, balanced, evidence-based information – especially amid the conflicting messages and misinformation circulating on social media.

And what an incredible audience!

Your thoughtful questions, lively discussions, and enthusiastic participation brought so much energy to the meeting.

The depth of engagement reflected both the complexity of this field and our collective determination to provide better care.

One message we all agreed on: there is still so much more we can and must do for cancer survivors.

We need to close gaps in evidence, strengthen collaboration, and improve access to comprehensive care. Every survivor deserves to be heard, informed, and supported to live well during and after cancer.

To our exceptional speakers: thank you for generously sharing your time, expertise, and thoughtful approach to challenging conversations.

To everyone who attended: thank you for your curiosity, questions, and commitment. You helped make this event truly memorable.

I’m leaving this meeting energized, grateful, and more motivated than ever to keep advancing this work.

Menopause care deserves a meaningful place in cancer care – from diagnosis and throughout survivorship.

Sharing a few highlights from this inspiring day below!”
