“Mario Germano Giuliani and Lisa Giuliani have made an extraordinary gift of $27.8 million to support research in multiple myeloma. It is one of the largest single gifts for multiple myeloma clinical research in our history.
‘Lisa and I are honored to support Dana-Farber’s transformational work in multiple myeloma,‘ said Giuliani.
‘We feel a deep responsibility to help advance research that can reshape patient outcomes, with the hope of accelerating breakthroughs and bringing us closer to a future where multiple myeloma can be effectively cured for more patients, including those disproportionately affected by the disease.’
The Giuliani family’s gift will establish the Giuliani Family Fund for Myeloma Clinical Research to support an innovative clinical study under the overall direction of Paul G. Richardson, MD, Clinical Program Leader and Director of Clinical Research, Jerome Lipper Multiple Myeloma Center, and RJ Corman Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, and his team.
It will also support the establishment of the Giuliani Family Fund for Myeloma Therapeutic Discovery to provide catalytic seed support for laboratory research led by Constantine S. Mitsiades.
