“It’s official. Hong Kong is three weeks away.
The World Cancer Congress 2026 (WCC2026) happening this September is bringing together the global cancer community for what promises to be one of the most important gatherings in cancer control this year.
The programme spans the full spectrum of cancer control across six themes:
- Prevention and early detection
- Cancer research and progress
- Healthcare systems and policies
- Treatment and palliative care, tobacco control
- The voices and experiences of people affected by cancer.
As a Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) Board Member and one of three Conference Chairs alongside Professor Jeff Dunn AO and Prof Anne Lee, it has been a privilege to help shape a Congress that reflects both where we are and where we need to go.
The questions running through this programme are ones I care about deeply:
- How do we translate what we know into stronger systems?
- How do we ensure that innovation reaches the people and places that need it most?
- How do we build partnerships that move us from conversation to meaningful change?
Honestly… a tremendous amount of thought, expertise, and collaboration has gone into bringing this together, and I’m grateful to every colleague who has contributed along the way.
