Michael Sapienza: Project Cure CRC-Funded Research Featured in Nature

Michael Sapienza, Chief Executive Officer of the Colorectal Cancer Alliance, shared on LinkedIn:

“I’m thrilled to share that breakthrough science funded by the Colorectal Cancer Alliance’s Project Cure CRC initiative is highlighted in a recent Nature article.

The innovative work from Dr. Julia Carnevale and her team identifies genetic changes that may help T cells better function within solid tumors and address one of the longstanding challenges in cancer immunotherapy.

CRC cases are rising in people under 50, and 75% are diagnosed at late stages when the disease is harder to treat. We need more progress, faster. That’s why the Alliance’s Project Cure CRC initiative is committed to funding cutting-edge research.

Seeing this work advance is a powerful reminder of why investing in research matters. At the Alliance, we believe progress requires more funding, more research, more scientists who are willing to ask difficult questions, pursue new approaches, and push the field forward.

We’re proud to support Dr. Carnevale and her team as they work toward discoveries that could ultimately open new possibilities for patients and save lives.

Congratulations to Dr. Carnevale, Qi Liu, Gladstone Institutes, University of California, San Francisco, and the entire research team on this important contribution to the field.”
