”Highlighting this beautiful paper in AACR Journals Cancer Discovery from the lab of Erin Parry at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute – a rising star in the Lymphoma field and former LSRMP awardee of the Lymphoma Research Foundation.
Using spatial profiling of paired follicular lymphoma (FL) and transformed follicular lymphoma (tFL) biopsies, and cases with composite patterns of FL and tFL in the same biopsy, they implicate stromal and macrophage remodeling as potential contributors to transformation.
After multiple studies have failed to identify a smoking gun for FL transformation at the tumor cell level (e.g. mutations), this is the clearest implication yet that the lymphoma microenvironment is implicitly linked with this process. The field is just starting to scratch the surface of lymphoma microenvironment biology, particularly in the stromal and myeloid compartments, and this is a superb contribution.
Congratulations to the whole team!”
