Maxime Griot, Visiting Researcher at Cleveland Clinic Lerner Research Institute, shared on LinkedIn:
“Today UpToDate released a chatbot that uses their database to answer questions. As a big fan of the UpToDate database, I will likely find this useful but can’t help to think this is not the right direction.
The point of LLMs is to centralize information and cross data from different sources, I don’t see the value of going from 30 independent silos of information to 30 chatbots.
Data is the key; data creators should continue to focus on the data curation process and make deals with AI providers to access their data.
I want a single chatbot that can use all the sources of information I use and can work with all of them at the same time. That’s the real value, not 1 chatbot per database.”
