Matthew Wallen: Proud of Our Team’s Efforts to Make Exercise Medicine a Standard Part of Cancer Care

Matthew Wallen, Academic Lead and Senior Lecturer in Exercise Science and Clinical Exercise Physiology at Flinders University, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Our Cancer Survivorship Program team has been busy!

Recently, we had the opportunity to hear from Diana Jones, an experienced cancer nurse, about her PhD research titled “Glioma Carers – Assessment of Individual Needs and Support (The GAINS Study)”. Some truly impressive findings that we’re excited to share in the future!

Several of our team also attended The Ribbon Ball over the weekend, hosted by the Flinders Foundation – a fantastic evening dedicated to raising awareness and vital research funds to improve cancer care for people living with and beyond cancer.

The Flinders Foundation supports many of our Program’s research projects, including our Flinders University Cancer, Exercise and Physical Activity (CEPA) Service. This service continues to deliver an accessible, evidence-based approach to embedding ‘exercise medicine’ into standard cancer care – making a real difference for people living with and beyond cancer right here in South Australia.”
