Mashukur Rahman, Resident Doctor at Bangladesh Medical University, Medical Officer at Directorate General of Health Services, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Cardio-Oncology is moving beyond ejection fraction.
I recently attended the ESC Council of Cardio-Oncology (COOL Webinar Series), which highlighted how the field is shifting from simple surveillance to mechanism-driven prevention of cardiotoxicity.
Key insights included the expanding role of the cardiac microenvironment (fibroblasts, endothelial cells, inflammation),
the emerging concept of ‘reverse cardio-oncology’ linking heart failure with tumor progression, and the growing use of iPSC-based models and high-sensitivity biomarkers for early risk stratification.
Many thanks to Assoc. Prof.A.Ghigo, Dr. Wouter Meijers, and Assoc. Prof. P. Ameri for an excellent, translationally focused discussion.”
