“Supporting young researchers is essential to the future of oncology.
I was pleased to participate in the 13th edition of the Forum de Recherche en Oncologie (FRON 2026), held at the Faculty of Medicine – USJ and jointly organized with the Department of Hematology-Oncology at Hôtel Dieu de France University Hospital.
This year, 22 candidates from universities across Lebanon presented their research, with the most outstanding projects selected by a scientific jury.
I had the privilege of moderating the jury, which brought together:
- Adel Tachy – Hematologist-Oncologist, Clemenceau Medical Center
- Alain Daher – Hematologist-Oncologist, Notre Dame des Secours University Hospital
- Elias Karam – Hematologist-Oncologist, Saint George Hospital University Medical Center
- Hanady Samaha – Medical Biology Laboratories, Saint George Hospital University Medical Center
- Iman Abou Dalle – Hematologist-Oncologist, American University of Beirut Medical Center
- Jad Wakim – Hematologist-Oncologist, Hôtel Dieu de France University Hospital
- Marcel Massoud – Head of the Chemotherapy Unit, Notre Dame des Secours University Hospital
- Rachel El Ferekh – Hematologist-Oncologist, Lebanese Hospital Geitaoui
The opening ceremony also marked a meaningful moment for me, as I was honored with a recognition award in the presence of the Minister of Public Health, Rakan Nassereldine; François Boëdec, Reverend Rector of USJ; Joseph Kattan, President of FRON; Sami Alkhatib, Secretary General of AMAAC; Nassim Fares, Vice-Rector for Research; Moussa Riachi, representing Elie Nemr, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine – USJ; and Nabil Chamseddine, representing Elias Chelala, President of the Order of Physicians.
My warmest congratulations to Prof. Joseph Kattan on the success of this 13th edition and for his continued commitment to advancing oncology research and supporting the next generation of researchers.
My sincere thanks to the organizing team, my fellow jury members and every young researcher who contributed to the quality of this scientific exchange.
The questions these researchers ask today can help shape the cancer care of tomorrow.”
