“This week I pitched myself and my future career aspirations to colleagues at the CRUK Manchester Institute.
What struck me was the absolute privilege it is to have such a comprehensive cancer centre on our doorstep. At 8:15am I was presenting to a room full of some of the best and most experienced clinical and molecular oncologists in this country, all encouraging me, suggesting improvements and areas to collaborate across the institute.
I was the first post-doc surgeon to present at this forum. It was an absolute pleasure.
This collaborative network it at the Christie Hospital site but really is representative of the GM Cancer Network recognising that the majority of surgical oncology care is delivered at other institutions, predominantly MFT and Salford. We have to work together to improve cancer care in our region and to have international impact.
It left me feeling one thing: The future is bright and the future is Manchester!”
