Martha Wanjiru: Breast Cancer Survivor Story Creating Awareness and Hope

Martha Wanjiru, Nurse Educator and ToT in Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening and Treatment of Precancerous Lesions Screening, Cervical Advocate and Champion Kiambu County, Kenya, shared a post on LinkedIn:

Lived experience is powerful in creating awareness, restoring hope, and reminding others that survivorship is possible.

Yesterday, during our routine community advocacy outreach, awareness creation was on a high notch. We were honored to be joined by our breast cancer survivor, Mary, who passionately shared her journey and created awareness on breast cancer.

She encouraged women that there is life after breast cancer and even after mastectomy. She reminded them that their dignity, confidence, and self-worth remain important. Through her powerful testimony, she emphasized the importance of using a breast prosthesis to help restore confidence and improve quality of life.

Her story inspired hope, courage, and strength among the women in the community.”
