Martha Wanjiru: HPV Screening and Vaccination as Pillars of Community Health

Martha Wanjiru, Nurse educator and ToT in breast and cervical cancer screening and treatment of precancerous lesions screening, cervical advocate and champion Kiambu County, Kenya, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“In the community, we take services closer to the people-because prevention works best when it is accessible.

In line with WHO recommendations, HPV DNA testing is the primary screening test for cervical cancer. It is more sensitive, enables early detection, and allows timely treatment of precancerous lesions before cancer develops.

HPV DNA testing, HPV vaccination, and effective referral systems are the pillars of cervical cancer elimination. Outreach is how we reach women early and leave no one behind.

Prevention is the pathway. Elimination is possible.”
