Marielle Santos McLeod: Survivors and Caregivers are the True Heart of Our Organization

Marielle Santos McLeod, Director, Programs and Advocacy at Cancer Hope Network, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Leadership isn’t always easy – but it’s deeply rewarding when you’re surrounded by the right people.

This past weekend, I had the chance to spend some long-overdue time with a few of our incredible coordinators – and to finally meet several of our dedicated mentors in person.

These survivors and caregivers are the true heart of our organization. Every day, they show up with compassion, strength, and purpose to support others facing one of life’s toughest journeys.

Lived experience matters. There’s something profoundly validating and empowering about connecting with someone who truly understands – the fatigue, the fear, the grit it takes to keep going. When no one else can fully grasp the heaviness of cancer, a peer does.

Grateful for this team and the community we’re building – one grounded in empathy, resilience, and hope.”
