“Attending the American Association for Cancer Research Conference on The Science of Cancer Health Disparities for the first time was an experience beyond anything I could have expected. The patient voice was not only heard but placed at the heart of the discussions, and it was truly inspiring to see advocacy interwoven with science at such a meaningful level.
I was deeply honored to be invited to present and share on efforts to reduce cancer health disparities by increasing Hispanic patient representation. To know that my voice and lived experience as an advocate are valued in these critical conversations is both humbling and motivating.
The brilliance and dedication of the researchers and advocates I had the privilege to learn from give me immense hope for the future of cancer care—one that will be more equitable and accessible for generations to come. My only wish is that I could have been in two places at once, to experience even more of the incredible sessions offered.
I leave this conference grateful, inspired, and more committed than ever to advancing equity in cancer research and care.”
