Margaret Foti: AACR Stands Firm in Support of Cancer Research

Margaret Foti, CEO at American Association for Cancer Research, shared on LinkedIn:

“Medical research is one of our nation’s greatest investments. The changes to the federal grantmaking process that have recently been proposed by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) would be extremely disruptive to the lifesaving research that the federal government funds and oversees. At the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), we remain steadfast in our mission to advance cancer research for the benefit of patients everywhere.

AACR applauds the bipartisan Senate action this week to prevent OMB from finalizing its proposed rule at least until the CR expires on December 11, 2026, and is grateful to all who have joined us in voicing their opposition to the many harmful provisions in OMB’s proposal. Read our full statement thanking Senators Susan Collins and Patty Murray and other Senate leaders for their commitment to protecting the federal research ecosystem that drives progress against cancer and learn more about AACR’s advocacy efforts in support of cancer research on our Cancer Research at a Crossroads page. Together, we must defend science, protect patients, and ensure that the pace of progress against cancer never slows.”
