Malinda Itchins: Fantastic Precision Medicine Summit Wrapped Up

Malinda Itchins, Associate Professor Thoracic Medical Oncologist at Royal North Shore Hospital and Chris O’Brien Lifehouse, shared on LinkedIn:

“Conference season continues…

Fantastic Precision Medicine Summit wrapped up.

So much data, so many smart minds and leaders driving the field forward. Lots to learn from our advocates, pathologists, trialists and tumour stream experts including David Thomas, Vivek Rathi, Jia Jenny Liu, Jeanne Tie, Christine Cockburn, Linda Mileshkin.

Great to be there with Megan Sanders (CEO) representing Thoracic Oncology Group of Australasia focused on bringing reimbursed liquid biopsy to advanced lung cancer (and beyond) and sharing our research in liquid biopsy transforming therapy in oncogene drug resistance with the national TOGA led ASPiRATION-2L clinical trial.

Regional representation was palpable. And I’m in awe of the passion of our colleagues providing excellence for the non metro postcodes and people who experience their own barriers.

A fun debate at the end with a champion of rare cancers Clare Scott. Even though I’m pro CGP for all.

And fantastic to meet and hear from Tiffany Boughtwood – Australian Health Genomics Commissioner with Genomics Australia and thank you for leading this busy space.

Delivering the level of precision informed timely care we need to be in cancer isn’t easy with our current roadblocks but with our continued advocacy and collaboratives like this I think the future is a fair bit brighter.”
