“We are honored to share that Tufts Medical Center Tufts Medical Center Pathology Department has been selected as one of only six organizations nationwide to receive to receive a $250,000 2026 American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Quality Improvement Grant to advance biomarker testing and precision care in metastatic colorectal cancer.
Our funded project, ‘Universal NGS and MMR IHC Testing Across Tufts Medicine for Advanced and Metastatic Colorectal Cancer: A System-Wide Precision Oncology Implementation and Equity Initiative’, will establish a standardized, system-wide approach to comprehensive molecular testing for patients with advanced and metastatic colorectal cancer.
Through this initiative, we will implement universal next-generation sequencing (NGS) with our industry partner and mismatch repair (MMR) immunohistochemistry across Tufts Medicine, with the goal of improving timely access to precision oncology, reducing disparities in biomarker testing, and ensuring that every eligible patient has access to the most appropriate targeted therapies and clinical trial opportunities.
